This measure is used to obtain a brief self-report snapshot of current emotional well-being. The Subjective Well-Being Scale assesses perceived positive and negative affective states (e.g., vitality and confidence versus low mood, irritability, and loneliness) to support clinical formulation and monitoring.
It consists of 17 items and typically requires about 2 minutes to complete. Results are commonly interpreted as an index of subjective emotional comfort that may be used in clinical or counseling contexts to establish baseline status and track change over time. The Subjective Well-Being Scale was developed by A. Perrudet-Badoux, G. Mendelsohn, and J. Chiche.
