Codependency Scale Test - Symptoms and Signs
This brief self-report measure is designed to screen for patterns commonly associated with interpersonal overinvolvement and difficulty maintaining personal boundaries. The Codependency Scale is typically used to support initial clinical formulation by identifying tendencies to prioritize others’ needs, rely excessively on approval, or tolerate maladaptive relationship dynamics.
It consists of 20 items and takes about 4 minutes to complete. Responses may help guide discussion of relationship functioning and potential treatment targets, but results should be interpreted in context and not used as a stand-alone diagnosis.
The Codependency Scale was originally developed by B. Weinhold and J. Weinhold (1989). It may be appropriate for use in counseling and other behavioral health settings when concerns include relationship patterns, autonomy, and boundary-setting.
