This brief self-report measure is designed to characterize an individual’s typical interpersonal approach in everyday interactions. Interaction Style provides a snapshot of whether a person tends to engage others in a more accommodating versus more firm manner across common social situations.
The instrument includes 11 items and generally takes about 3 minutes to complete. Items are typically summed or interpreted to yield an overall profile of interpersonal style that may be useful for clinical formulation, communication-focused interventions, or psychoeducational feedback. A version of this measure has been attributed to Robert F. Bales.
