This measure assesses perceived ethnic identity, including feelings of belonging and exploration of one’s ethnic background. The Multigroup Ethnic Identity Measure-Revised (MEIM-R) is a brief self-report instrument intended for use across diverse ethnic groups in clinical and research settings.
The questionnaire includes 12 items and typically takes about 3 minutes to complete. Scores are used to summarize the respondent’s level of identification with an ethnic group and engagement in learning about and reflecting on their ethnic heritage. The Multigroup Ethnic Identity Measure-Revised (MEIM-R) can support culturally informed case conceptualization and may help contextualize identity-related experiences when considered alongside other clinical information.
