Moral Self-Esteem Assessment Test - Symptoms and Signs
This brief self-report measure is intended to screen perceived moral self-worth and related interpersonal attitudes in children and adolescents. The Moral Self-Esteem Assessment provides a structured way to elicit respondents’ appraisals of their moral feelings and typical reactions in peer and classroom situations.
The measure includes 10 items and typically takes about 2 minutes to complete. Items may be administered in a written format or read aloud, and may include open-ended sentence completions to capture the respondent’s spontaneous interpretation of common social scenarios.
The Moral Self-Esteem Assessment was described by M. J. Lerner and is commonly used as an initial indicator of self-evaluative moral orientation and social-emotional responses. Results are generally interpreted qualitatively or as a brief screening aid and should be considered alongside developmental level, contextual information, and other assessment data.
