Asthenic State Scale is a brief self-report measure intended to screen for symptoms commonly associated with asthenia, including pronounced fatigue and reduced mental and physical stamina. It is designed to help quantify the severity of these complaints in a time-efficient format.
The measure consists of 30 items and typically takes about 3 minutes to complete. Responses are used to summarize the degree of reported fatigue-related difficulties (e.g., diminished concentration, irritability, sleep-related complaints, and reduced productivity) and may support clinical interviewing and symptom monitoring. The Asthenic State Scale is attributed in some sources to Aaron T. Beck and Christina Maslach.
