WHAT THE TEST MEASURES
About This Assessment
Assessment of the Social-Perceptual Attitude of an Individual Test

Social-Perceptual Attitude Assessment Test

This brief measure examines individual differences in how people interpret others’ behavior in everyday social contexts. The Social-Perceptual Attitude Assessment uses proverb-based prompts and asks respondents to select interpretations that best match their typical viewpoint.

The instrument includes 16 items and typically takes about 3 minutes to complete. Developed by Mark Snyder, it is intended to support rapid screening of social-perceptual attitudes (e.g., general expectations about others and interpersonal orientation) and may inform case formulation or discussion of interactional style. The Social-Perceptual Attitude Assessment is generally better suited to adolescents and adults, as younger respondents may have difficulty with figurative language used in proverbs.
