This measure is designed to screen for difficulties adapting to workplace demands and the social environment. The Occupational Maladjustment Assessment provides a structured self-report snapshot of attitudes and perceptions that may be associated with reduced fit or discomfort at work.
The instrument consists of 64 items and typically requires about 12 minutes to complete. Items address perceived relationships within the organization (e.g., with the work group and supervisor) and satisfaction with aspects of the job and working conditions, consistent with approaches described by Paul E. Spector.
Results from the Occupational Maladjustment Assessment can be used to identify areas that may warrant follow-up (e.g., elevated stress, interpersonal strain, or dissatisfaction) and to inform supportive workplace interventions. Interpretation should consider job context and be integrated with collateral information and clinical or organizational judgment rather than used as a standalone indicator of performance or safety risk.
