This brief self-report measure is designed to clarify how an individual appraises the self and other people in everyday life. The Life Position Scale is intended to identify a predominant stance that may shape interpersonal expectations, behavior, and relationship patterns. It may be used as an initial screening tool to inform clinical formulation and goal setting.
The measure includes 20 items and typically takes about 4 minutes to complete. Results are interpreted as an index of habitual attitudes that can operate outside of conscious awareness and may be clinically relevant when exploring self-esteem, trust, and interpersonal functioning. The Life Position Scale can be used alongside interview data and other measures to support a structured discussion of strengths, vulnerabilities, and targets for intervention.
