This brief self-report screening tool is designed to identify interpersonal and work-style tendencies associated with a highly controlling, distrustful approach to collaboration. The Rough Character Questionnaire is intended to flag patterns such as reluctance to delegate, heightened sensitivity to others’ mistakes, and friction in team interactions (Levinson, H.).
The measure consists of 15 items and typically requires about 3 minutes to complete. Results are best interpreted as descriptive indicators rather than a diagnosis, and may be useful for guiding self-reflection, supervisory feedback, or discussion of workplace functioning when elevated control and low trust are contributing to strain. When used in organizational or clinical contexts, the Rough Character Questionnaire should be considered alongside other sources of information (e.g., observed behavior and contextual factors) to support balanced interpretation.
