Get help now: crisis lines by country
If you are thinking about suicide or about hurting yourself, or you are worried about someone who is, you can talk to a person right now. The services below are free unless the entry says otherwise, and most answer around the clock. Freudly is not an emergency service and cannot help in a crisis.
If there is immediate danger
Call your local emergency number, and stay with the person if you can. In the United States that is 911 and across the European Union it is 112 — but the number is not the same everywhere, so check your country below. Do not wait for a crisis line to pick up.

Dominican Republic
Emergency number911
The 911 system covers most of the country but not yet every province.
We could not confirm a national mental-health line for this country against an official source, so we would rather list none than list one that may not answer. Call the emergency number above.
If your country is not listed
Call your national emergency number — it can reach mental-health support everywhere, not only medical or police help. Most countries also run a crisis line under a name like "suicide prevention line" or "emotional support line", usually through the health ministry, and searching for that name together with your country will find it. A hospital emergency department will always take you, and so will a GP.
When to call a crisis line
- You do not have to be about to act. These lines are for thoughts of suicide and self-harm, and equally for panic, despair, grief, abuse, or the feeling that you cannot keep going.
- Call even if a test score came out low. A single thought about death or about hurting yourself matters on its own, whatever the rest of the questionnaire said.
- Call if you are worried about somebody else. Every service on this page will talk to friends, partners and parents, not only to the person at risk.
- Go to an emergency department, or call the emergency number, if there is an injury, an overdose, or a plan being acted on right now.
What happens when you call
- A trained volunteer or counsellor answers. Nothing you say will shock them — this is the conversation they are there to have.
- You do not have to give your name. Most lines are anonymous and confidential; the usual exception is that they may involve emergency services if there is an immediate risk to life.
- They will ask direct questions, including whether you are thinking about suicide. Being asked plainly is not dangerous. It makes it easier to answer honestly.
- You are not obliged to say anything you do not want to, and you can stay quiet while you find the words.
- Many calls end with a simple safety plan: who to contact next, what to do tonight, and how to put distance between you and the means of harm.
How to help someone else
- Ask directly. "Are you thinking about suicide?" does not plant the idea — more often it comes as a relief.
- Listen more than you advise. You do not need the right answer and you are not expected to fix it.
- Stay with them if the risk is immediate, and if you are on the phone, stay on the line until help arrives.
- If you can do it safely, help put distance between them and the means of harm: medication, weapons, alcohol.
- You can call any of these lines yourself, on their behalf, to think through what to do next.
How this page is maintained
Every number here was checked against the operating organisation’s own website or a government source on September 4, 2026, and is re-checked every quarter. Crisis lines change quietly: if you find something out of date, please write to hello@freudly.ai and we will correct it.
Freudly is an AI-powered self-reflection tool. It is not a crisis service, it is not watched by clinicians in real time, and it cannot send help to you. Nothing on this page is a diagnosis or medical advice.
